Where's the rooster?

Nothing is more interesting than waking up in the morning to the sound of "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" I must've heard it a dozen times. It wasn't any ordinary rooster, it was Ethan! How does a 2 year old know that roosters crow in the morning to wake people up?

Swim Lessons

The last two summers we've tried swim lessons with Ethan. Neither really worked - too young, wrong instructor? Not sure. But, Ethan loves the water and with our upcoming June trip to Turks and Caicos (which sits between the Bahamas and the Virgin Islands), he just needed to try lessons again and become more comfortable in the water. He loves the bath, but a bathtub and an ocean are two totally different things. If I could just pour some salt into the bathtub along with some coral and fish, he might be better prepared for what's to come. We'll wait on those things because they aren't my favorite! If I could scuba dive or snorkel in a pool, I'd be most happy. Worrying about what is going to touch me, sting me or eat me under the water is a problem! The fact that I swam with sting rays in the Cayman Islands was a miracle! To be honest, I wasn't swimming. I was clinging onto John for dear life so the miracle is John didn't drown. I want Ethan to have an amazing ocean experience so here's to swim lessons 2x a week. He's already going under water. Yay!

Nothing is cuter...

...than a little boy who puts his finger to his forehead and says, "Think, think, think" when contemplating something. It reminds me of something Pooh Bear would say.

First Fat Lip

I guess every boy will eventually get one. Luckily it wasn't from a fight, but horsing around on the swings at daycare. We still had fun visiting a local park the following day. Now we just need the weather to warm up!

Still Working on Becoming America's Next Top Chef

I'm still hoping Ethan grows up becoming a chef. You know the top chefs in the world are men. If you haven't been to Binkleys in Cave Creek you are really missing out! Grandpa hopes Ethan will study there one day. In the meantime, Ethan and I got some air time on Channel 12 News as they were filming a story on his cooking class. His friends Hudson and Carter joined us that day, too. We made the best cinnamon rolls ever! Let me know if you want this simple recipe. :)

We love Jeannette!

We met Jeannette on the Welsh Terrier newslist years ago. She lives in Ohio. Her Welshies Sophie and Ike are Lucy's age. Jeannette and Mark travel a lot so we always get together when they come to Phoenix. We had a great time visiting over dinner, even though we had to brave the worst storm of the year to get there! We always have fun and I wished we lived a lot closer to each other.

First Movie at the Theatre

Ethan started sitting through entire movies at home so we took our chances on seeing Alvin and the Chipmunks at the theatre. We bought popcorn, drinks and got all cozied up in the big movie chairs. Ethan made it through the whole movie! Now he's really into Zuzu Pets, little hamsters that remind us of the chipmunks. Ethan calls them "mousies." Maybe we'll get a real one for a pet someday. Remember, I had rats for several years and they made the best pets!

Ironing

Grammie: Opens up the ironing board from the wall and gets out the iron.
Ethan: What's that?
Grammie: It's for ironing Grandpa's shirts.
Ethan: Pulls up his little chair so he can carefully watch.
Grammie: See the steam and smoke coming out of the iron? Does Mommy have an iron?
Ethan: Oh, no! But, Auntie has one at her house.
