The Easter Bunny Came Early

Saturday, March 27, 2010

This year the Easter bunny came early. We spent the morning at a local park where they put on a pancake breakfast, crafts, cookie decorating, bouncers and a hunt for 15,000 Easter eggs! There were hundreds of kids. All 15,000 eggs were scooped up in record time. Less than a minute! I think the parents were crazier than the children, scooping up eggs. One boy must have had 100 eggs in his basket. Ethan made out with about a dozen, but he picked them all on his own with some words of wisdom from mom. #1 - Run, don't walk. #2 - Forget the eggs on the sides, go for the middle. #3 - Scoop up as many as you can, don't worry about what is inside them at the time. Enjoy your Easter celebration next weekend! We'll be on egg hunt #2. We want to keep the record for finding the Golden Egg every year at Smoke Tree Ranch.

An Interesting Day!

Thursday, March 18, 2010

The day started out quiet. Breakfast at Joe's then home to make peanut butter bird feeders, pick and wash lemons for the local food bank, play in the water table, shoot some soccer balls into the net, jump on the trampoline and make homemade banana ice cream. I will spare you the details of the poop fiasco this afternoon! It's always something. ;)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Gotta wear green today! We're part Irish!

The leprechauns even came for a visit.

A BIG Accomplishment

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

For a little boy who wouldn't even float in the bathtub 3 weeks ago, receiving a Backfloat Ribbon at swim class tonight was a BIG deal! The swim instructors all cheered for him. Yay, Ethan! Mom and Dad are so proud of you!

A Sight Rarely Seen

Rain, rain, please think of staying,

So, Ethan can continue playing,

Under your drops and in puddles, too,

Stay another day, won't you?

Celebrating Dr. Suess

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Today is Dr. Suess's birthday! If he was alive, he'd be 106 years old today. In celebration, it's wacky, mismatched clothes day at school. Even though I love Ethan to match from head to toe, it was fun pulling together a crazy outfit! Ethan went right along with it, too. They are even making a cake today in his honor. "Today you are YOU, that is truer than true. There is no one alive that is Youer and You." - Dr. Suess (Happy Birthday to You!)

Gymnastics - A New Adventure

We're adding another activity to our schedule now that cooking classes are finishing up for the winter. Now we're in swim and gym. Both are terrific muscle builders! Coach Jackie really worked with Ethan on bars today. Go Coach!

Packing for California

Ethan's favorite thing to do is pack his Thomas the Train suitcase (on wheels) and pull it himself. He's very clear about that, too! It is his job. Here is the before and after! I laughed so hard. Really, did he need to take the entire Monster Truck collection and nothing else?

I Don't Like...

Monday, March 1, 2010

We flew over to LA for the weekend to spend time with my brother Jason and his girlfriend Mai. We spent Sunday at Disneyland before heading out on the last flight of the day. Here's some of our conversations:

Mommy: Ethan, let's go ride on Peter Pan!
Ethan: I don't like Peter Pan. I like horses.
Mommy: You want to ride on the carousel?
Ethan: Yes. I like the white horses.
Mommy: Let's go ride on the cars.
Ethan: I don't like cars.
Mommy: We're going on a boat ride (Pirates of the Caribbean). Yay!
Ethan: I want off the boat.
Mommy: What do you want to ride?
Ethan: I like elephants (Dumbo).

We zig zagged back and forth trying to find rides he was interested in. He was more fearful of the dark this time even though we make it very positive. Luckily, we've all grown up going to Disneyland so there was no plan for the day other than for Ethan to enjoy it, even if that meant giving up our favorite ride, Peter Pan!
