Cheese Days

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Thanks to Aunt Carol and Uncle Marvin for hosting our Cheese Days family reunion, again. My moms side of the family gathered in Monroe, Wisconsin last weekend. We traveled the furthest distance. Most of my aunts, uncles and cousins live in Fairfield and Des Moines, Iowa. We spent 3 fun-filled days together reconnecting. The best news was cousin Jonathan's engagement and his upcoming wedding to Katelyn in April 2011. Two years ago the highlight was Ethan learning to walk. We spent time at the craft fair, going on a farm tour, playing at the carnival and eating fried cheese curds at the Cheese Days celebration. We also had the chance to tour the Minhas Brewery, one of the largest in the nation. The owners were down from Canada so Ethan had fun meeting their little girl. The root beer they produce is awesome! We are already looking forward to 2012!

Happy Birthday Lucy Girl

Our first "child" Lucy (the Welsh Terrier) turned 14 years old on September 22! Here she is a 1 year old and 14 years old. We flew up to Washington state to pick her up at 8 weeks old. She's been an amazing dog, a little trooper and Ethan's best friend. He calls her "Lucy girl" and takes good care of her...giving her dinner (Bone Appetite), taking her on walks and giving her scritches and kisses each day. She's had a rough year with breathing problems and her heart, but not nearly the number of seizures from the past. She takes a lot of pills to keep things in check. And, with Ethan in the house, he's keeping her young! Happy Birthday Lucy Girl! We love you!

Nothing is cuter than a sweet little face with big round goggles!

Happy Grandparent's Day!

Everything my Grammie does is something special made with love. She takes time to add the extra touch that says, "I love you very much." She bakes cookies with a smile and tells good stories grandma style. Gardening together is lots of fun. We feed javelina in the hot summer sun. It's warm and cozy on her lap for secret telling or a nap. She sends me cards in the mail, money and trinkets inside without fail.

Everything my Grandpa does is something special made with love. He takes time to add the extra touch that says, "I love you very much." He shows me how to work with tools and doesn't have too many rules. I like to ride in the cars Grandpa does buy, around the driveway they do fly. He takes me swimming every day and is learning the noodle riding way. Grandpa builds really cool stuff for me. I hope I can be as good a builder as he.

And when I say my prayers at night, I ask God to bless and hold you tight. Cause when it comes to giving hugs, my Grammie and Grandpa's arms are filled with love.
