Down at the Farm

Monday, June 29, 2009

Ethan is lucky to know a local dairy farmer. Amy was one of my 1st ASU student teachers about 5 years ago and she and her husband help run the family dairy farm in Maricopa. We visit several times a year. The cows are so cute! I don't know who has more fun, me or Ethan. When we arrived today we saw the Ringling Bros. circus train leaving town. The railroad tracks follow their southern property line. Another adventurous day!

The Day the Circus Came to Town

Sunday, June 28, 2009

Yesterday, we went to see the Ringling Bros. circus at the US Airways arena. We had been telling Ethan about the animals all day. He gets so excited about animals. I am not a supporter of the circus, but wanted Ethan to have the experience of it, at least once. It wasn't the circus I remembered from childhood, more acrobatics than animals. I imagine PETA has something to do with it. Either way, we enjoyed the 2 hour show (Ethan with death grip on his popcorn). The elephants were amazing!

When It's Hot Outside

Within a few days we went from mild weather to 109 so that called for a playdate with water and ice cream! Ethan and friend Gavin prepared choclate chip cookie vanilla ice cream (with the help of Mom's new ice cream maker), played in the little pool while it was churning and then tasted their creation about 30 minutes later. Dad was shocked at the speed, remembering his childhood days of making ice cream with a hand crank and rock salt.
