Beautiful Kauai
Monday, June 6, 2011
A week in Kauai is never enough! In between the many rain showers (and I mean down pours!), we were able to geocache, visit Waimea Canyon (looks like the Grand Canyon), water slide at the condo, snorkel in the Pacific Ocean, visit a goat farm (known for their goat cheese), see the Smith Family luau and zip line over breathtaking canyons where Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark and other movies were filmed (we even repelled down a waterfall!). We celebrated Ethan's 4th birthday at the luau where he learned to hula dance! And, he snorkeled for the first time by himself off of Kee Beach where he discovered the Hawaiian humu fish and many angelfish (while his Uncle ventured further out to find monk seals, an octopus and several eels - no thank you!). I conquered my fear of heights quickly by zipping 100's of feet in the air which ended up being more fun than scary. All in all, another amazing adventure with the Harris Family.

John's Surprise Birthday Vacation
Tuesday, May 17, 2011

It was off to SeaWorld and San Diego for a quick weekend birthday surprise and a behind the scenes penguin tour. Ethan loved flying on the plane with Daddy-o since he hasn't joined us on most trips lately. John wasn't sure what we were up to. He thought maybe we were heading to Disneyland or Monterey. I love surprises!

Top 10 Things I Love about Cooking Club
Saturday, April 9, 2011
- Everyone is a foodie. Most of us follow the Pioneer Woman, Bakerella and other foodie blogs.
- I laugh so hard that I sometimes cry (I'm surprised I haven't peed my pants!)
- The swear words fly and the gestures are even funnier!
- Drinks are the highlight. Mojitos? Bellinis?
- Themes make gatherings fun. Caribbean? Steakhouse?
- Recipes are easy to duplicate. No funky, hard-to-find ingredients.
- Dishes are kept a surprise until we meet. So far no duplicates.
- There's never a bad dish. Sometimes we're licking our fingers if that says anything!
- We talk about everything and anything. Someone always has an interesting story.
- There's no drama. We all mesh. It's about good times and good friends.

90 something
Saturday, April 2, 2011
It's 90 something degrees today. We decided to give the slip n' slide a try, despite the box directions that it was for 5+. Now we know why it says 5+. Not that it's dangerous (well, I guess it could be), but because a 3 year old just doesn't weigh enough to slide very far. It took a lot of running to get even a small slide, but Ethan loved it regardless. Here's to summer approaching too quickly!
